Intel appoints Wang Rui as the new president of Intel China

Intel Corporation appointed Dr. Wang Rui as its senior VP and president of Intel China on September 10, upgrading its organizational structure in China, according to the announcement by Intel. Wang Rui succeeds Intel China veteran Yang Xu, who will retire in the yearend.

Wang Rui will have full authority to lead all businesses and teams in Intel China. She graduated from the Electronics Engineering School at the South China University of Technology. She got her Ph.D. in engineering at Columbia University in 1990. Since joining Intel in 1994, she spent most of her career in senior management positions. Before Intel, her career experience included being an engineering manager for three years in Cadence and an engineer at AMD. 

Yang Xu has been the chief representative of Intel in China for 21 years. He graduated in 1990 from U.S.'s GMI Engineering and Management Institute in Flint, Michigan, with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He became Intel's China sales manager in 1995 and made extensive connections with China's emerging PC industry, helping Intel contribute to the rise of ICT industries in the country.

According to the Intel announcement, its CEO Pat Kissinger has high hopes for China looking into the future and believes that the new organizational restructuring and personnel appointment have given the China leadership team greater authority, achieving synergy in business operations.

Additionally, China is crucial to Intel after 36 years of development. As the world's largest semiconductor market, the country is home to many highly innovative companies. It is also one of Intel's important manufacturing and R&D centers.
