Popular set-top-box chipmaker Amlogic wins an 83% revenue increase thanks to the surge in its product shipment worldwide

The listed chipmaker Amlogic released its 2021 third-quarter performance report recently, which shows an 83.21% year-on-year revenue increase to RMB3.233 billion ($497 million). Its net profit surged 3874.75% to RMB502 million ($32.63 million).

Amlogic (晶晨半导体) is a fabless semiconductor company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. It is a popular provider of high-performance multimedia systems-on-chip (SoC). Its products are used widely in set-top-box, smart TV, AI audio/video system terminal, Wi-Fi connection, and onboard infotainment devices and systems.

In the October 27 released report, Amologic attributes this dramatic growth to internal and external factors. This year there are the strong demands for consumer electronics, benefiting the IC industry. The company won opportunities from this boom, especially from its sharply increased overseas shipment of chips for smart set-top boxes and AI audio/video system terminals. It is a result of its strategic planning over the last few years with expanded markets.

Analogic's set-top-box chips are adopted in devices for an impressive list of clients, including ZTE, Skyworth, Xiaomi, Alibaba, Google, Amazon, and Walmart. The list also includes many communication carriers in Latin America, Africa, India, and Russia.

Meanwhile, Amologic has won a long list of domestic and overseas clients for its smart TV chips and SoC chips for AI audio/video system terminals.

The company is expanding to new applications for home security, assisted driving, and other automotive electronics.

Amologic started in the U.S. Silicon Valley in 1995. It is now headquartered in Shanghai and has close to 900 employees. It operates in a dozen cities, including Hong Kong, Taipei, and Seoul.
