Fan Zhiyong, global head of intellectual property at Huawei, said.“We are very pleased to reach this license agreement with Buffalo. This is our first overseas license focused on Wi-Fi 6. Huawei has a broader license portfolio that covers Wi-Fi 6 and traditional Wi-Fi products, but this agreement marks the emergence of Wi-Fi 6 as the major Wi-Fi technology.”
Huawei estimates that there are two billion active networking devices with Huawei’s license. “Huawei is open to licensing its patents to industry peers. We are proud to be a major contributor to the new Wi-Fi 6 standard, which can offer exhilarating experiences such as smart home and smart factories innovations," Fan said.
Buffalo, headquartered in Nagoya, Japan, is a global manufacturer of innovative storage and networking products for the home and small business, as well as system builders and integrators. Founded in 1975, the company has a long history in these areas.
