As one of the most cutting-edge technologies, quantum computing has gained numerous global attentions. Both academia and market seem to be excited about what quantum computers can do and making unimaginable promises. But how exactly is quantum computer different from a traditional one? JW Insights asked Dr. Steven Girvin, Professor of Applied Physics at Yale University, to explain the technology. Dr. Girvin is Eugene Higgins Professor of Physics and the director of the Co-design Center for Quantum Advantage (C2QA) located at Brookhaven National Laboratory, one of the five U.S. national quantum research centers.
