China has released four whitelists of more than 2,000 companies in the key industrial and supply chain to tackle logistics problems caused by pandemic control lockdown, according to Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
He acknowledged that the country’s industrial performance in the 1st quarter of this year is stable, but “demands are contracting, supplies are hit, expectations are lowered, facing more challenges and in need of more foresighted judgment and adjustment and precise countermeasures.”
Xin made a speech at the “2022 Economic and Trade Situation Report Meeting” held by the China Federation of Industrial Economics on April 23rd in Beijing. He said that MITT started working on the whitelists in early March to deal with issues in pandemic control, such as supplies of daily necessities, suspension of key components and parts, preparation for spring farming, and strategic emerging industries.
Xin added that most of the 2,000 companies on the whitelists are mostly industry leaders in their industrial chains. He admitted that if one company in automotive equipment, electronics, and other industries in the Yangtze River Delta region suspends production, many companies in the industrial chain and supply chain would be affected.
