UNISOC wins the largest growth of 38% in China’s smartphone SoC shipments in first half of 2022, while Huawei’s Hisilicon drops most

China’s smartphone SoC shipments in the first half of 2022 decreased 16.9% to 134 million pieces. UNISOC(紫光展锐) ranked fifth by shipments with a 38% year-on-year growth and the largest of the top five suppliers, while MediaTek, Qualcomm, Apple remained in top positions, and Huawei dropped most, according to a recent CINNO Research report.

The demand for mobile phones in the Chinese market declined sharply in the first half of 2022, which profoundly affected the upstream SoC supply chain.

MediaTek ranked first with 56.6 million pieces, increasing by 7% year-on-year and accounting for about 42.1% of all shipments, followed by Qualcomm accounting for about 35.3%, Apple, 16.3%, UNISOC ranking the fourth with the largest growth of 38% year-on-year; HiSilicon the fifth with the largest year-on-year decline of 81.5%.

CINNO Research said that the decline in Huawei’s mobile phone shipments resulted in the decline of its device businesses. Third-party data shows that overall shipments of Huawei’s mobile phones have fallen sharply, despite of slightly higher shipments in the second quarter of 2022 than the first quarter.
